Obama campaign highlights Palin's 'zero' experience

"Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign on Friday blasted his Republican rival's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as a running-mate, highlighting her "zero" foreign policy experience."

Ok so I SHOULD take this to mean that Obama has a lot of experience?  Whatever experience he has in foreign policy (POLICY!) is minimal.  I think its risky for him or those around him to bring up experience.  In fact, I think in some small way McCain is using his choice as bait.  Think about it.

About the only thing of concern here is when it comes to debates.  Biden has been in politics a long time… if he can make Palin look like Edwards did it would be a serious blow at the last minute.  Of course, I don’t have any idea how well versed Palin is on issues and not very likely to be exposed to enough info over here.

MyVi mileage

Most recent tank got 29.94mpg in mixed driving… STILL think I will crack the 30mpg mark without having to try.  Just not sure when.

Best I can tell, this means 21sen/km

Is Obama in over his head...? Maybe so says the bringer of Hope!

Ya, know... it doesn't matter what your stance is.   Obama has been tagged the "Gaffe Machine" for a reason.  Can you imagine if anyone other than a Democrat said this?  Of course even most Democrats would have the sense not to in the first place.

Was he trying to be funny?  I think the NON response is actually quite telling even if a little (lot) evasive.

Obama says pointed abortion query “above his pay grade”
Posted by: Ed Stoddard

DALLAS - U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama side-stepped a pointed query about abortion on Saturday by “mega-pastor” Rick Warren during a televised forum.

Asked at what point a baby gets “human rights,” Obama, who strongly supports abortion rights, said: “… whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question  with specificity … is above my pay grade.”

He went on to reiterate his view that it was important to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who followed Obama onto the stage of the nationally televised event, was more blunt and more emphatic.

He said a baby’s human rights began “at the moment of conception … I have a 25-year pro-life record.”

Clancy the next Nostradamus?

From Jim Geraghty @ National Review:

(I'm not kidding in the headline about the odd similarity to Tom Clancy's original Ghost Recon game, which had U.S. special forces secretly going into... T'bilisi, Georgia to deal with Russian invasion forces backed by ultra-nationalist hardliners. The "future date" of the 2001 game was... August 2008.)

Yeah, read that again.  Apparently, Tom could see this coming! heh.  Ok, not exactly but the date match is creepy.    I found this via a post by “see-dubya” on Malkin blog - read more via the links.

I think McCain has a more clear response on the issue but since *I* dont know a lot about it, I can’t really say who I agree with… but it isn’t Obama since he didnt really say that much.

So… Question: is Clancy about to be the next NostradamusAre the Lithuanians next?  Not that I put much stock in it…  I just enjoy the books and similar games.  :)

Frontera – new mexican joint I just tried

Just got back from Frontera having had a bit of Tex-Mex.   This isnt a full food review however.  Not just because I didnt take enough pictures but because I didnt take any notes.  :)

Location:

Frontera Bar & Grill
18-8-2, Block L
Palm Square, Jaya One
72A, Jalan Universiti
Petaling Jaya
Tel: 03-7958 8515

I had not been to “Jaya One” or Palm Square before – looks fairly new to me.  Frontera itself was easy to find and not on the 8th floor like I thought the address meant.  Duh.  Just around the corner from Starbucks if you are lost.

We ordered enchiladas and another dish (something "Pallo") of smothered chicken.  Pretty tasty!  Portions were acceptable/average and if I had to choose I think the enchiladas were better.  Side items were beans, vegetables, and potato salad (normally rice).  The appetizer was chips with cheese sauce and optional spicy beef. Yum.

I had a coke, wife tried a Pina Colada if I recall…  but later we shared what I think is called “Horni Margarita”.  Pretty good!  And thats saying something since I normally dont have such things.

If on lunch break, they have a set lunch at a good price.  RM14 I think, which is very doable.

Bavarian Bierhaus

DSC03772    DSC03773

DSC03774Had lunch at Bavarian Bierhaus recently @ UOAII

Not sure if its a new outlet or not but this was NOT at “The Curve”

Service was very good.  The decor was pleasing in a semi-pub style but my pictures do not reflect this.

Food was tasty yet for just a lunch was a bit expensive for me given the SMALL portions.  Cost for set lunch is RM19++

My new MyVi

Purchased a new MyVi June 26, 2008 having sold the Volvo.  Its an auto trans car and is the smallest daily transport car I’ve ever owned.  The third pic is of my white car next to a colleague’s MyVi that he purchased just a few days after.

So far, Ive gotten 28mpg in mixed driving.  Hit 29 once so far but I expect this to improve as the “new” wears off.  I think this equates to about 21-22sen/km.
