Valentines Day!

Did a little something different this time… MOVIE!  GSC was running a promotion that included dinner, goodie bag, movie tickets (Gold Class), and even a free photo dubbed “Instant Love Snapshot”.

We chose the 1 Utama mall GSC location for Friday night.  Yeah, yesterday!  But I’m slow on the postings…

Dinner was at the “Glitters Cafe” where lighting was dim and only pre booked couples were seated.  Each table had a candle burning and properly themed decor was placed about and hanging on walls.  Good job!  They were overstaffed and very polite.  Best service I have had in a while.  Each table was reserved and had our names placed on a little card.

Ok, food.  Some of the food was great.  My Chicken was undercooked but only a small portion so I did not complain but this would keep them from getting higher marks if I were writing an actual review.  Anyone reading?  Well lets get to details and PICTURES.  As before, all taken with Ericsson phone (more on that later)

First up, the table and my beautiful bride…

Caesar Salad - Our drinks included some tasty Rose based delight that I must have had 6 or more refills of.  So we started with that while they prepared the salads.  These were very good.  The shell or “bowl” was nice too and being edible was a nice touch.

Cream of Farmer’s Hen - After salad it was time for soup.  A nice creamy chicken based soup I found this didnt last long… seconds?  Dang.  One of the manager types stopped by and made sure the bowl was placed properly for the photo.  Obviously he cared about presentation… more than once he came by to check on us.

The main course I chose was “Perfumed Rosemary Flavored Chicken” while my wife had the “Spaghetti Aglio Olio w/Frutti De Mare”  Both were good and with great presentation.  The chicken was not cooked well enough in the center but I just left that part rather than complain and add a negative tone.  Don’t feel sorry for me though… I had some of the Spaghetti also!

The Chicken was complimented with capsicums and fine French Beans while the Spaghetti included prawns, mussels, squid and forest mushrooms.

Petit Fruit Tartlet – finally it was desert!  This was a small but tasty treat with strawberry, mango, and kiwi jumbled together in a light crust.  During the desert I turned down the included coffee/tea offered but had my last glass of the rose punch while wifey had tea.

During dinner (actually before salad) some ladies came by and took our picture – the one mentioned earlier – and after a few minutes came by and gave us a hard copy.  Its enclosed in a James Bond movie promo jacket.  Yeah, the one from months ago!  hehehhe.  They took our pic with a 5mp Ericsson camera phone.  Mine is just a 2mp so you can assume its better than the pics I have here.  Wanna see?  Come to the house!  :)

Before the movie, we took inventory of the goodies in the goodie bag.  Not bad!  Umbrella, perfume, shampoo (more than one)….  good haul!  Better than expected.  There was also some chololates!  Almost forgot the discount coupons for media players but the best:
MORE MOVIE TICKETS

The movie?  “Marley & Me” A real kleenex movie… if you have a dog or used to, you will like this movie.  I think even if you never have or will you may like this movie.  I wont spoil it but it was good.  Not sure how much of a Valentines movie it was but nevermind that bit of uncertainty – go see it.  Based on a true story!

There is a name for it, “Yee Sang”?  Anyway the photo shows three of us shortly after digging in.  Not bad at all!

Two children should be limit, says green guru

Sarah-Kate Templeton, Health Editor

COUPLES who have more than two children are being “irresponsible” by creating an unbearable burden on the environment, the government’s green adviser has warned.

Jonathon Porritt, who chairs the government’s Sustainable Development Commission, says curbing population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming. He says political leaders and green campaigners should stop dodging the issue of environmental harm caused by an expanding population.

What “RUBBISH”!  Another example of a government thinking they know more about what is good for you than you do.  Nanny state!  And for what?  Global Warming?  Wow.  Read more if you must via the link…
